Launching FarmData (First Community driven Nigeria farm data digital infrastructure)

Finally, after 5 months. We are excited to announce that we didn’t just achieved this, but also deployed the basic technology infrastructure that solve the problem described in the quoted post. This is not just significant for us at DayDone, but also marks a significant milestone in our journey going forward.

FarmData was created to address the challenge we face as an organization with the constant and evolving need to onboard farmers, especially during the off-harvest season. We believe this challenge is not unique to us but is characteristic of the industry.

And built as a free platform to facilitate Nigeria Agtech industry collaboration, with the goal of help new innovation leapfrog faster and give partners insight and reach to easily expand regarding their service and opportunity to more farmers.

What it is not
– The goal is not to just giveaway the onboarding effort and investor money spent on acquiring this data, by us or our partner to just anyone. Hence we are very selective on who get access and the API call are limited and every organizations given access are hold accountable for use.
– This is not for academic purposes and organizations that can make farmers money or solve their primary needs will be prioritized.
– The goal of this, similar to any digital infrastructure is not to eliminate new organization from physical outreach/field work. We are here to only accelerate deployment especially for new entrant and foster collaboration.
We currently have 1000+ digitally represented farmers across 30 states in Nigeria and several produces. But the bulk of the current dataset is from Oyo State for obvious reasons.

Easiest way to get this API access
The easiest way is by being a partner, this is not to deter new Agtech startup as there is a request access button and if you are credible and with strong purpose we will more than happy to leapfrog you. For others, becoming a partner is still the best way. As the sole purpose of this for us to encourage collaboration and increase the value to others in the industry and by being a partners you are not only collaborating on the farm data you are willing to share but also talent and everything as this belong to the community.

For example, if you need 500 farmers in Oyo, and you contribute another vetted 500, you are facilitating wider and faster deployments of future innovations for the betterment of the Agri-food ecosystem.

It is important to say this data is not the assets of DayDone; we are only a founding partner and it belongs to the community. And this wouldn’t be feasible without DUFMA volunteering to be the second and crucial partner on this. Grateful to Adeniyi Shoremi for believing in our team to execute this.
